Albino Penis Envy

A leucistic isolate of the Penis Envy lineage; retains the dense, club-shaped morphology of the parent while presenting a ghost-white fruiting body.

Plate IPsilocybe cubensis var. Albino Penis Envy (APE) · mature specimen

A leucistic isolate of the Penis Envy lineage; retains the dense, club-shaped morphology of the parent while presenting a ghost-white fruiting body.

§ 01Morphology

Albino Penis Envy retains the dense, club-shaped morphology of the parent Penis Envy lineage: a thick, cylindrical stipe supporting a small, rounded cap that frequently fails to open fully. Colouration is uniformly ghost-white to pale ivory across both cap and stipe, with pronounced blue bruising against the pale background — often more vivid than in pigmented PE owing to the absence of competing colour.

Spore production is extremely sparse, a trait inherited from the parent phenotype's persistent partial veil. Where spore deposits do occur, they remain the deep purple-black characteristic of the species, confirming the variety as leucistic rather than truly albino.

§ 02Origin & Naming

APE is a leucistic isolate of Penis Envy, with the stabilisation of the phenotype attributed to hobbyist cultivators in the late 1990s. Multiple parallel isolations circulate under the APE designation; the phenotype is reproduced through repeated selection rather than from a single genetic founder.

Several sub-lineages are now distinguished in community sources — APE Revert, Moby Dick, and others — each representing further selections against residual pigmentation or morphological variance in the parent APE stocks.

§ 03Cultivation Temperament

Colonisation is slower than the P. cubensis norm, inheriting this trait from the Penis Envy parent; contamination during extended run times is a recurring hazard and rigorous sterile technique is essential. Low-light fruiting is recommended to preserve the pale colouration of mature caps.

Because spore prints are effectively unusable, propagation is conducted via liquid culture or agar transfer from vigorous mycelial sectors. Yields per flush are modest; individual specimens are dense and heavy.

§ 04Safety Profile

As with all psilocybin-containing species, Albino Penis Envy carries significant contraindications. Psilocybin is a serotonergic compound and interacts with a range of medications and mental-health conditions.

⚠ Contraindications

Albino Penis Envy shares the high tryptamine content attributed to the broader Penis Envy lineage; dosing estimates derived from standard P. cubensis varieties will significantly underestimate effect. Begin with markedly reduced quantities. Not suitable for individuals with personal or family history of psychotic disorders, schizophrenia, or bipolar I; those taking SSRIs, MAOIs, or lithium; pregnant or breastfeeding persons; or those with unmanaged cardiovascular conditions. Always review the full safety codex before use.
